Measurements. Male (n=2) forewing: 33–35 mm; hindwing: 32–34 mm; antenna: 38 mm; female (n=2): forewing length: 38–40 mm; hindwing length: 37–39 mm ( van der Weele 1909b).
Diagnostic characters. Vertex yellow. Frons, labrum, and clypeus shiny and dark brown to black. Male antenna as long as forewing and curved in S-shape in first bend, at second bend strongly toothed on inner surface. Female antenna straight and reaching to pterostigma. Yellow strip present only on mesothorax in lateral view. Apices of wings pointed, slightly concave below tip. Legs black. Male ectoproct with long and thick processus bending downwards and inwards, caudal part obtuse with short and strong bristles, extending well beyond sternite 9 in dorsal view. In ventral view, sternite 9 pentagonal-shaped, wider at base than high, and with the tip blunt. In ventral view, gonocoxite 9 arch-like with pair of strong curved S-shape extensions, and with apices acute. Terminalia and genitalia as van der Weele (1909b: fig. 2) and Kimmins (1949: fig. 10).
Distribution. Known only in Myanmar ( van der Weele 1909b; Kimmins 1949) ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 ).
Flight period of adult. August and September ( van der Weele 1909b) ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 ).
Remarks. van der Weele (1909b) examined 2 male and 2 female types while describing the species. Three syntypes (2 males, 1 female) can be found in MCSN (Genova). One female syntype is preserved in the NNML, this type specimen was not examined. During this study of the Glyptobasis type specimens, Glyptobasis denticornis Kimmins, 1949 (syn.n.) proved to be a junior synonym of Glyptobasis spinicornis van der Weele, 1909b . Apart from the type specimens, no new faunistic data are known.
