Type (designated by Greuter et al. 1988: 120): — Pyxidicula cruciata Ehr.

Notes:— Rhopalodia O.Müll. is conserved against Pyxidicula Ehr. We agree with Fourtanier & Kociolek (1999) who consider that Pyxidicula Streln. & V.A.Nikolajev is illegitimate, and a substitute name was needed. Pyxidicula Streln. & V.A.Nikolajev is not superfluous because, as circumscribed by its authors, did not include the type of any other genus ( Pyxidicula turris (Grev. & Arn.) Streln. & V.A.Nikolajev ≡ Creswellia turris Grev. & Arn. , the generitype of Creswellia , is invalid because no basionym was cited). Etymology: from the Greek πψξισ, a box, and δικλισ, folding two ways.
