Apogonia encausta Kolbe, 1899a: 44
Type locality: "Senegambien".
Distribution: Senegal, The Gambia ( Kolbe, 1899a).
Remark: Kolbe (1899a) recorded three females deposited in Brenske’s collection and labeled as A. encausta Chevrolat. He briefly described the differences between A. insulana Karsch and A. encausta ; the latter characterized as being smaller, pale brown, feebly lustrous, with pronotum and scutellum finely punctured. Consequently, Kolbe should be treated as the author of A. encausta , and 1899 as the year of publication.
