REMARKS

Aphaenogaster splendida ( Roger, 1859) View in CoL has a very wide distribution in the Mediterranean region: from North Africa to Ukraine and from Spain to Georgia (Arnol’di & Dlussky 1978; Arakelian 1994; Borowiec 2014). On the other hand, recent studies including Greece and Turkey show a least three different species very close to A. splendida View in CoL (Lech Borowiec, pers. comm.). Therefore, until a revision of this species group our samples have uncertain status.
