Xyphinus rogerfedereri sp. nov.

Etymology. Because of the male palpal apophysis, which resembles a tennis racket, this species is dedicated to Roger Federer, the best tennis player ever.

Diagnosis. With its large, racket-like palpal apophysis, the male of X. rogerfedereri sp. nov. is easily recognizable ( Fig. 46A–G ). With the pits on the carapace the female resembles X. xelo ( Fig. 24A ), but can be distinguished by the roundish, bubble-like structure in the epigastric region ( Figs 47B ; 48B , arrow).

Description. Male. Total length 1.78 mm. Carapace: Orange-brown, ovoid in dorsal view, strongly elevated in lateral view, anteriorly narrowed to 0.49 times its maximum width or less, with angular posterolateral corners, posterolateral edge with pair of pits, anterolateral corners without extensions or projections, posterolateral surface with 1 pair of spikes ( Fig. 45A, C, D ), surface of pars cephalica and sides smooth, fovea absent. Posterior margin with four lobate, sclerotized extensions, dorsal of the pedicel ( Fig. 45G ). Lateral margin with blunt denticles ( Fig. 45D ). Clypeus: Straight in frontal view, vertical in lateral view, high, ALE separated from edge of carapace by their radius or more ( Fig. 45E ). Eyes: PME largest, all eyes oval. Posterior eye row straight from above, procurved from front. ALE separated by their radius to diameter, ALE and PLE touching, PLE and PME touching, PME touching ( Fig. 45A, D, E ). Sternum: Longer than wide, sickle-shaped structures not touching, but elongated fan-like anteriorly. Radial furrows opposite coxae III appearing as sclerotized impressions, elongated fan-like anteriorly. Surface smooth ( Fig. 45B, F ). Mouthparts: Chelicerae slightly divergent, anterior face unmodified ( Fig. 45E ). Labium rectangular, indented at middle, with 3–5 setae on anterior margin. Abdomen: Book-lung covers elliptical. Scuto-pedicel region with W-shaped scutal ridge ( Fig. 45H ). Dorsal scutum orange-brown, middle surface and sides smooth, anterior half without projecting denticles. Epigastric scutum not protruding. Postepigastric scutum with short posteriorly directed lateral apodemes. Posterior spiracles connected by groove. Legs: Harpoon-like hairs covering the distal part of metatarsi and tarsi III and IV. Tibia with three, metatarsi with one trichobothria each. Genitalia: Sperm pore small, situated in front of anterior spiracles ( Fig. 46G ). Trochanter normal size, unmodified. Femur one to two times as long as trochanter, attaching to patella basally; patella about as long as femur, tibia slightly longer than patella, with three trichobothria, cymbium pale orange, ovoid in dorsal view, not fused with bulb; bulb pale orange, 1 to 1.5 times as long as cymbium, distal part roundish, plate-like with small membranous apophyses dorsally ( Fig. 46A–G ).

Female. Total length 1.80 mm. Carapace: Pars cephalica slightly elevated in lateral view ( Fig. 47C ). Female palp spineless, femora with two strong, spine-like hairs ventrally, tibiae with three trichobothria. Abdomen: Epigastric scutum strongly protruding ( Figs 47C ; 48A ). Genitalia: Epigastric furrow very narrow. Translucent, bubble-like structure visible in the furrow with dark vertical tongue in its middle, lined posteriorly with numerous needle-like setae ( Fig. 48 ).
