Type-locality: Aphyosemion tirbaki – “ Forest “marigot” near Tsotandzala , a village on road from Lastourville to Moanda, Joumini River, Gabon, 1.28°S, 13.03°E, elevation 700 meters / Marigot forestier près de Tsotandzala, village entre Lastourville et Moanda, rivière Joumini, 1.28°S, 13.03°E, altitude 700 m ”. Holotype: MNHN 1997-0186.
