Type-locality: Aphyosemion tirbaki – “ Forest “marigot” near Tsotandzala , a village on road from Lastourville to Moanda, Joumini River, Gabon, 1.28°S, 13.03°E, elevation 700 meters / Marigot forestier près de Tsotandzala, village entre Lastourville et Moanda, rivière Joumini, 1.28°S, 13.03°E, altitude 700 m ”. Holotype: MNHN 1997-0186. Distribution and remarks: a Lower Guinea endemic, presently only known from two localities at the road from Lastoursville to Moanda in brooks and small streams in the rainforest of the Lekoudi River basin in south-western Gabon.
