Distribution and remarks: tropical and warm temperate waters of all oceans, but absent from eastern Pacific. Eastern Atlantic: occurs along the entire African slope, off Madeira, Canary Islands, Cape Verde and on underwater rises. Record for Gabon: UF 174350-1963 and several human observations.
