Type Locality: Indonesia, Prov. of Papua, Tjenderawasih Div., Yapen Isl, Ansus.

Vernacular Names: Beccari's Sheath-tailed Bat.

Distribution: New Guinea, Kai Isls, Biak, Ypen, Trobriand Isls, Bougainville, New Ireland (Bismarck Arch.) and nearby smaller islands.

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).
