Scatonomus paulosawayai Vulcano and Pereira, 1973: 536 View in CoL .
Diagnosis
Scatonomus barbatus , S. canhedoae sp. nov., S. fasciculatus and S. paulosawayai have deep lateral emarginations filled with setae at the clypeal edge ( Figure 3 View Figure 3 (a, b, d, i)). However, S. paulosawayai has the clypeal edge lacking median teeth and the median portion between the lateral emarginations with rectangular shape ( Figure 3 View Figure 3 (i)), dorsum with green or blue reflections ( Figure 1 View Figure 1 (i)), head and pronotum wrinkled and elytral interstriae opaque, with well-defined microgranulation.
Redescription
Male: unknown. Female: length: 13 mm. Dorsum with black, green or blue reflections ( Figure 1 View Figure 1 (i)). Head: surface wrinkled ( Figure 3 View Figure 3 (i)). Clypeo-genal and fronto-clypeal sutures wide, sulcate. Anterior clypeal and genal edges with rows of ventral, orange setae ( Figure 3 View Figure 3 (i)). Antennal club filled with short setae. Thorax: pronotal surface wrinkled and puncticulate. Pronotal disc slightly elevated at the anteromedian portion. Mid-longitudinal sulcus on pronotal disc filled with fine punctures. Transverse carina of hypomera complete, reaching the lateral edge. Anterior and lateral edges of hypomera densely coated with setae. Surface of mesepimeron and mesanepisternum with green reflections, finely striate. Disc of metaventrite flat, punctate, with shallow longitudinal sulcus medially. Lateral lobes of metaventrite with well-defined microgranulation and sparse shallow punctures. Elytra: striae thin, punctures shallowly impressed. Seventh stria almost reaching the elytral base. Eighth stria absent at anterior one-fifth. Ninth stria carinate, inconspicuous near basal portion of elytra. Interstriae punctate, with well-defined microgranulation. Legs [ventral surface]: profemora puncticulate, posterior edge with setose punctures near trochanter. Outer edge of protibiae with two acute teeth, apical tooth longer than median and basal teeth. Meso- and metafemora finely punctate. Outer carina of mesotibiae and metatibiae with row of small teeth. Inner edge of mesotibiae and metatibiae carinate, except by its apical one-third. Abdomen: posterior half of ventrites II– IV slightly depressed. Ventrite V 3 times shorter than ventrite VI. Pygidium: shiny and puncticulate.
