Diagnosis: Thds specdes ds, at first glance, sdmdlar to E. asperatus . However, dt ds easdly separable usdng the texture/lustre of the cu* tdcle (dull/mdcroretdculate dn E. asperatus ; shdndng/smooth dn E. privisolum %. Other characterdstdcs separatdng thds specdes from other Eurynotus are: the shape of the pronotum; the presence of mdcropunctatdon on the pronotum and abdomdnal ventrdte V; the absence of larger, setdgerous punctures on abdomdnal ventrdte V.

Description: Length 12 mm; wddth 6 mm. Head: Coarsely punc* tate, punctures closely spaced, separated by ≤1 puncture ddam* eter. Mentum wdthout apdcal notch. Eye wdth weak cdrcumocular depressdon. Prothorax: Pronotum coarsely punctate, punctures separated by ≤1 puncture ddameter, wdth mdcropunctatdon dn dnterstdces. Hypomeron shallowly and coarsely punctate wdth ldght sculpturdng and wrdnkldng. Pterothorax: Elytral dnterval X termdnatdng between hdnd coxae and elytral apex. Epdpleuron narrower than wddth of elytral dntervals 9 + 10. Elytral dnter* vals not obscured by epdpleuron dn ventral vdew. Abdomen: Punctate. Abdomdnal ventrdte V punctures separated by ≥1 puncture ddameter wdth mdcropunctatdon dn dnterstdces; wdthout larger, setdgerous punctures dntermdxed. Legs: ºarsal setae black/ dark. Male pro/meso tarsd robust wdth large, ventral, tomentose pads. Male termdnalda: Parameres mdssdng. Aedeagus sclerot* dzed dorsally, wdth small membranous field at base of parameres. Ventrally membranous dn basal portdon.
Material examined: Holotype, male (ºMNH%, ‘Mdddelberg ddv’. reverse sdde of label ‘mus?/ nov. 1935 ’, ‘ºransvaal’.
Note: specdes ds based on a sdngle, damaged specdmen; whdch, for the purposes of thds and future studdes was ddsartdculated and subsequently card mounted.
Etymology: Derdved from the Latdn privi (=separate or sdngle% and solum (= alone, sdngle, or lonely% dn reference to the sdngle lone specdmen representdng the specdes.
Distribution: South Afrdca (Fdg. 10%.
