Pickens Co., Eastatoe Valley, 28 October 1992, ex Glaucomys volans , coll. S. Miller. This chigger was found in the ears of a male flying squirrel. The major hosts for larvae in eastern Kansas were tree squirrels, whereas in south central Kansas they were taken from cave bats and “gray wood rats” ( Loomis 1956).
