Type host: Caprimulgus fossii welwitschii Bocage ( Caprimulgiformes : Caprimulgidae ) from Rwanda.
Diagnosis. Palps with 3 segments. Palp tarsus with 3 setae (BN-type) and solenidion; palp tibia with 1 seta (BNtype). Hypostome with 2 pairs of setae (BNa-type). Setae ve situated anterior to si. Sensillae si (SBb-type), vi (BNa or BNz), ve (BDw), se (BNz), c1 (Nz), c2 (BNz). All hysteronotal setae (Nz-type). Ventral idiosomal setae (including coxal setae) BNa or BNz-type.
Hosts and distribution. Caprimulgiformes (Caprimulgidae) : Caprimulgus fOssii welwitschii Bocage from Rwanda [Southern Prov., Muhero] ( Fain 1956b).
Strigiformes (Strigidae) : BubO africanus (Temminck) , Glaucidium perlatum (Vieillot) , and Otus senegalensis (Swainson) — all from Rwanda [Southern Prov., Akanyaru] ( Fain 1956b).
Non-African hosts and distribution. Caprimulgidae : AntrOstOmus carOlinensis (Gmelin) from USA (Pence 1973b).
Strigidae : Otus spilOcephalus vulpes (Ogilvie-Grant) from Malaysia ( Fain 1963d).
