Dermolepida albohirtum ( Waterhouse, 1875)

Lepidioderma albohirtum Waterhouse, 1875: 202 .

Dermolepida albohirtum: Arrow 1941: 448 .

Lepidioderma lansbergei Brenske, 1895: 42 ; Britton 1957: 58 (synonymy).

Dermolepida lansbergei: Arrow 1941: 448 .

Lepidioderma waterhousei Brenske, 1895: 42 ; Britton 1957: 58 (synonymy).

Dermolepida waterhousei: Arrow 1941: 448 .

Lectotype of Lepidioderma albohirtum (here designated) male: Type H.T. (circular red ringed, typeset) | 2095 (handwritten) | Port Bowen [20.07°S, 148.35°E] (handwritten) | Lepidioderma albohirtum (Type) Waterh. (handwritten) | my lectotype label; in NHML.

Waterhouse (1875) did not define the type series, seeing an unknown number of males (vide Articles 73.1.2, 72.1.1). Britton (1978) referred to a “ holotype ” male from Bowen in NHML and this was followed by Houston & Weir (1992) and Miller & Allsopp (2000). As Britton (1978), Houston & Weir (1992), and Miller & Allsopp (2000) provided no discussion and did not label any specimen in NHML, none of these mentions of a holotype constitutes a valid lectotype designation (vide Article 74.5). To stabilise nomenclature, I designate the male in NHML the lectotype.

Lectotype of Lepidioderma lansbergei (here designated) ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8–16 ): Australia Deyrolle 1892 (handwritten) | Lansbergei type Brsk. (handwritten) | Coll. Brenske (black bordered, typeset) | my lectotype label; in ZMB.

Brenske (1895) did not define the type series, seeing an unknown number of specimens of unstated gender (vide Articles 73.1.2, 72.1.1). The type(s) were not defined by Britton (1957, 1978), and Houston & Weir (1992), and Miller & Allsopp (2000) referred to “ syntypes (probable)”. To stabilise nomenclature, I designate the specimen in ZMB with Brenske’s type label the lectotype.

Lectotype of Lepidioderma waterhousei (here designated) male ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 8–16 ): Queensland (black bordered, typeset) | Waterhousei type Brsk (handwritten) | penis N202 (handwritten) | Coll. Brenske (black bordered, typeset) | my lectotype label; in ZMB.
