Remarks. Bolívar (1878b: 69) in his original description stated for this species “Absque elytris” (without elytra) and for the species Ocneridia longicornis ( Bolívar 1878b: 70) “elytris in ♂ brevissimis a pronoto subobtectis, in ♀ nullis” (elytra in ♂ short, veiled under pronotum, in ♀ no). Uvarov (1943: 346) synonymized O. longicornis with this species for the first time. Presa & Garcia (1983: 19), Massa & Biondi (1987: 175) agreed with the synonymy. But, O. volxemii is distinguished from O. longicornis by the absence of tegmina in both sexes (male always, female sometimes with small tegmina in O. longicornis ), the body surface (especially outer surface of hind femur) quite smooth with blunter tubercles (body distinctly with sharp tubercles in O. longicornis ), the more arcuate median carina of pronotum (straighter in O. longicornis ), the body surface mostly but not always with greenish shades (body surface always with brownish shades in O. longicornis ). They may be different taxa (species or subspecies). However, I have studied only 4 specimens of O. longicornis here and I give the specimens of both taxa separately in the Material examined section for further studies.
