Distribution. N.W. Anatolia: Kastamonu, N. of Çankırı provinces ( Fig. 846 View FIGURE 846 ).
Description of male. Body ( Fig. 721 View FIGURES 709 – 722 ) stout, compressed laterally. Fastigium of vertex ( Fig. 616 View FIGURES 611 – 624 ) short and broad, slightly depressed and sloping. Frontal ridge slightly narrowed just below the median ocellus, but not incised, almost flat, frontal groove weak. Vertex ( Fig. 616 View FIGURES 611 – 624 ) narrow, 1.2 times narrower than vertical diameter and almost as wide as transversal diameter of eye; supraocular foveola open type, semiclosed in some males; median carinula long and grooved; convex in lateral view. Antennae with 12–14 segments. Pronotum ( Fig. 721 View FIGURES 709 – 722 ) compressed laterally, roof-shaped; lateral carinae weak, indistinct in some males; median carina slightly raised, with a weak longitudinal sulcus, wider and more distinct at anterior end; slightly convex in lateral view. Anterior margin of prosternum raised, with a sharp, narrow triangular, median projection, blunter or sharper in some males but always pointed. Mesosternal interspace almost 2 times longer than its length and clearly narrower than mesosternal lobes. Hind femur ( Fig. 522 View FIGURES 522 – 554 ) 2.3 times longer than its height, basal half strongly widened then sharply narrowing towards genicular lobes, forms a weak preapical notch on dorsal margin. Hind tibia with 9 inner, 9–10 outer spines. Arolium very narrow and short. Median carinae of mesonotum and metanotum not raised, weakly grooved. Abdominal tergites ( Fig. 721 View FIGURES 709 – 722 ) simple; median carinae slightly raised, without posterior projection. Tympanum absent, or a vestigial one strongly reduced, much smaller than the neighbour stigmal area which visible in some males in the same habitat. The structure of phallus typically belongs to this genus. Arch of zygoma relatively wide, not raised; posterior lobes of zygoma elongated; ventral margins of apical valves of penis turn to lateral sides at apex; apodemes relatively narrow, with apical notch; basal valves of penis long and strongly widened basally; epiphallus short and wide, pseudolophi separated, with 8–15 spines.
Coloration. Body light greyish-brown with cream and black spots and pattern. Ventral part of head cream with sparse, small black spots, dorsal part darkened with much denser black spots. Antenna greyish-brown. Eyes brown. Pronotum light brown with many small cream tubercles and less black spots; typical light bands on paranota weak, cream with small black tubercles and spots. Typical light band on abdomen wide, cream; lateral sides of abdomen brown. Sternites light brown or yellowish-cream; anterior margins of abdominal sternites with large dark brown spots on both sides. Subgenital plate cream with dark brown anterior margin. Outer surfaces of legs creamish milky brown. Inner and venral surfaces of hind femur black, dorsal margin of inner surface body color, in some males only the dorsal carina of inner surface red. Inner surface and inner half of dorsal surface of hind tibia bright red with black tipped inner spines, outer half yellowish with black tipped spines. Tarsus bright red.
Measurements (mm) of both sexes. body length: male 20.9–24.2, female 34.9–41.3; pronotum length: male 5–5.4, female 7.8–9.4; pronotum height: male 5.5–6.1, female 9.4–10.8; pronotum width anterior: male 4.8–5.9, female 7.4–8.4; pronotum width posterior: male 6.8–7.2, female 10.5–11.9; hind femur length: male 8.7–9.4, female 12–14.1; hind femur height: male 3.9–4.1, female 4.8–5.5.
Remarks. The male is first described here. Demirsoy (1973) gave some specimens from Ilgaz Dağı as a new form of Paranocaracris rubripes burri and Mol et al. (2014) recorded Paranocaracris elegans tridentatus (Shchelkanovtsev) from Kastamonu Province. They probably belong to this species.
