Calophya arcuata Caldwell, 1944 View in CoL

Materials examined. Holotype ♀ USA: Florida : Monroe County: Bonefish Key , 24.ii.1940 (J.S. Caldwell) ( USNM, dry mounted); 1 ♀, Stock Island, Key West, 24.vi.1964, black light trap (F.A. Buchanan) ( FSCA, in 70% ethanol).

Distribution. USA (FL) ( Hodkinson 1988).

Host plants. Unknown.

Comments. The female from Key West is similar to the female holotype in body size and color; in the shape of the genal processes which are about two thirds of the vertex length; in the forewing shape which is ovoid with an indistinctly angular apex; with surface spinules on the wing membrane in all cells leaving moderately broad spinule-free stripes along the veins; in the female terminalia which are cuneate with proctiger bearing a rim around the circumanal ring, dorsal outline of proctiger almost straight, very weakly sinuous; subgenital plate pointed, broken in female from Key West. Antennae missing in holotype. The holotype differs from the other female in the larger cell cu 2 and the shorter vein Cu (about as long as vein Cu 1a), longer than vein Cu 1a in the Key West specimen.

More material and host plant information are necessary to assess the identity of C. arcuata and the identity of the Key West specimen.
