Measurements. Specieswithratherbigbodysize. Holotype. Prodorsum: length 338, width 227, height 172. Prodorsalsetae: ss 101, in 99, le 51, ro 58. Notogaster: length 757, width 505, height 515. Notogastral setae: c 1 202, c 1 / c 1 - d 1 =1.0, d 1 159, e 1 152, h 1 190, ps 1 202. Genito- aggenitalplate 215 × 152. Ano- adanalplate 215 × 139. Measurementsofparatypes. Prodorsum: length 303–328, height 136–156. Notogaster: length 616–677, height 374–465.

Integument. Colourlightbrown. Surfaceofbodycoveredwithdeepconcavities.

Prodorsumwithoutlateralcarinae. Posteriorfurrowspresent. Mediancristapresent. Sigillarfieldsinvisiblebecauseofstrongsculpturingandmediancrista. Sensillilong, nar- row, stick-shaped, smooth, obtusedistally. Interlamellarsetaeratherlong, semi- erect, ro- bust, coveredwithsmallspinesindistalhalf, similartonotogastralsetae. Lamellarsetae robust, rough, pointeddistally, shorterthaninterlamellarsetae (in / le = 1.9). Rostralsetae alsorobust, procumbent, rough, directedinwards, pointeddistally. Exobothridialsetae vestigial. Relativelengthofsetae: ss> in> ro> le.

Notogasterwith 15 pairsofrigid, ratherlong (c 1 = c 1 - d 1), distallyslightlyobtuse (visibleunderhighmagnification) setaecoveredwithsmallspinesindistalhalf. Dorsalsetae slightlylongerthanlaterals. Setae c 1 and c 3 slightlyremotefromanteriormargin, setae c 2 farawayfrommargin. Vestigialsetae f 1 invisiblebecausestrongsculpture. Allfourpairsof lyrifissures ia, im, ip and ips present; lyrifissures im and ip locatednexttoeachother.

Etymology. Thespecificepithet alius isLatinmeaning “another” andalludestomor- phologicaldifferencesofthenewspeciesfromotherafrotropical Arphthicarus species.

Remarks. Thenewspeciesisdistinguishablebythepresenceofinterla- mellarsetaeofmediumsizeandquitelonglamellarsetae, ratio =1.9. Inother afrotropicalspecies ( NIEDBAŁA & LIu 2018) of Arphthicarus lamellarsetaeshow differentshapesandaremuchshorterthantheinterlamellarsetae (onlyin A. notatus Niedbała, 2001 setaearesimilarinlength, butalsosimilarinshape). Inaddition, setae an 1 ofnewspeciesisshorterthan an 2, thenotogastralsetae c 1 similarinlengthassetae ps 1, themediancristaofprodorsumispresent, and lyrifissures im and ip arelocatednexttoeachother.
