Genus Zentula McAlpine, 1985

Zentula McAlpine 1985: 212 . Type species: Zentula vittata McAlpine (original designation).

Description. See McAlpine ( 1985: 212), Sinclair and McAlpine ( 1995: table 1). Zentula spp. have the palpus much longer than in Cairnsimyia . The minute ommatrichia of the eye surface are better developed in Zentula than is usual in Cairnsimyia spp., but these are difficult to discern without electron microscopy.

Distribution. Eastern Australia – Queensland, New South Wales.
