Zentula McAlpine 1985: 212 View in CoL . Type species: Zentula vittata McAlpine View in CoL (original designation).

Description. See McAlpine (1985: 212), Sinclair and McAlpine (1995: table 1). Zentula spp. have the palpus much longer than in Cairnsimyia . The minute ommatrichia of the eye surface are better developed in Zentula than is usual in Cairnsimyia spp., but these are difficult to discern without electron microscopy.

Distribution. Eastern Australia – Queensland, New South Wales.
