Distribution. Iran, China (type locality), Japan, India, Indonesia (Sumatra), Sri Lanka, Taiwan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique and North America ( De Prins & De Prins 2011 –2021; Nuss et al. 2003 –2022)

Remarks. This species was reported from Iran as a monophagous pest of mulberry in northern parts of the country by Jaafari Khaljiri et al. (2006).
