Distribution. Holarctic, Neotropical and Oriental regions; first record for Ukraine.
Taxonomical remark. This species was usually misidentified as Mesochorus giberius (e.g. Schwenke 1999: 75) in the past. It differs from Mesochorus giberius mainly by its darker mesosoma with extended black color pattern and shorter ivory spot on frontal orbit which do not reach the lateral ocellus in females ( Vikberg & Vårdal 2017: 23–26).
