A Nearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Rodentia : Sciuridae . Adults and nymphs have been collected from Lagomorpha : Leporidae , and Carnivora : Procyonidae ; adults alone have been recovered from Carnivora : Canidae , Mustelidae ; immature stages have been found on Carnivora : Felidae , and Soricomorpha : Soricidae ; undetermined stages have been taken from Artiodactyla : Bovidae , Rodentia : Cricetidae , and Passeriformes (unknown family) (Guglielmone et al. 2014, Scott et al. 2018, Lee et al. 2019). Ixodes marxi is a sporadic parasite of humans.
