A Nearctic and Palearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Suliformes : Phalacrocoracidae , but they have also been collected from Charadriiformes : Alcidae and Laridae ; adults and nymphs have been recovered from Passeriformes : Fringillidae ; adults alone have been taken from Carnivora : Otariidae . There are no records of Ixodes signatus causing human parasitism.
