A Neotropical species, all of whose known parasitic stages, including the undescribed larva and nymph, have been found on Didelphimorphia : Didelphidae (Guglielmone et al. 2014, Trapido & San Martín 1971), and Rodentia : Cricetidae ; females alone have been collected from Rodentia : Echimyidae . There are no records of Ixodes tropicalis causing human parasitism.
