An Afrotropical species ( Kolonin 2003) known only to parasitize Squamata : Pythonidae and that initially was considered to be an Oriental tick in Kolonin (1992a) and Camicas et al. (1998).

Note: according to Guglielmone et al. (2009, 2010b, 2014, 2015), this species is probably a synonym of Amblyomma transversale , and, in fact, it may not belong to the genus Amblyomma . See also Amblyomma transversale .
