An Afrotropical, Oriental and Palearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Artiodactyla : Camelidae , but they have also been collected from Mammalia (several orders), Aves (several orders), and Squamata : Lacertidae . Hyalomma dromedarii is a rare parasite of humans.
