Justicia virgata (Nees) Anderson (1867: 516) View in CoL . Leptostachya virgata Nees von Esenbeck (1832: 105) View in CoL . Justicia
virgata Wallich [Cat. No. 7177], nom. nud. Type:— MYANMAR. Taong Dong , 26 November 1826, Wallich
Cat. No. 7177 (holotype K-W!).
Justicia chlorantha Craib (1912: 268) View in CoL , syn. nov. Type:— THAILAND. Lamphun, Mae Ping Rapids, Ban Kaw , 7 September 1911, A.F.G. Kerr 2023 (holotype K!, isotypes E!, K!) .
Note: —The specimen Kerr 2023 has subquadrangular stems with longitudinal green lines. The leaf blades are chartaceous and glabrous on both surfaces, widely ovate or ovate-oblong with truncate or rounded bases and acuminate, acute or caudate apices. The inflorescence varies from simple to compound indeterminate, each bract supports 2–3 flowers, the capsule is densely pubescent. These characters fall within the morphological variation of J. virgata . Therefore, J. chlorantha View in CoL is proposed as a synonym of J. virgata .
