I have examined the types of S. multidentatus View in CoL , S. ferrugineus View in CoL , and H. hopkinsi View in CoL . All fall within the range of variation of the widespread species, H. seriatus View in CoL . Hopkins’ three species were described from Mexico and Guatemala. I have also examined hundreds of species of H. seriatus View in CoL from those countries without seeing any specimens that would merit species-level recognition. Based on specimens seen, only a single species is represented. Wood (1982: 894) earlier suggested this synonymy.
