Description. Male. Body oblong-oval, slightly convex above, shining, closely covered with yellowishwhite short setae throughout. Color of body mostly yellowish-brown; antennal segments IV–XI black.

Head moderate in size, almost flat dorsally, finely punctate; clypeus short, slightly expanded laterally, anterior margin shallowly concave. Eyes moderate in size, slightly prominent; the distance between eyes 1.5 times the maximum diameter of an eye. Antennae ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 B) relatively stout, reaching about proximal 1/5 of elytra; approximate ratio of each antennal segment (n = 1) as 2.0: 1.3: 1.0: 1.7: 1.7: 1.5: 1.4: 1.3: 1.3: 1.2: 1.7. Pronotum slightly convex above, punctate as head; anterior margin straight; antero-lateral corners almost rectangular, distinctly projecting anteriorly; lateral and posterior margins gently arcuate; postero-lateral corners about 120º; PW/PL 2.36–2.45 (2.41). Scutellum small, an equilateral-triangle, punctate as head. Elytra oblong, widest at middle, punctate as head, slightly depressed in proximal 1/2 laterally; shoulders slightly elevated; EL/EW 1.41–1.52 (1.47); EL/PL 4.73–5.24 (4.92); EW/PW 1.35–1.42 (1.39); TL/EW 1.70–1.81 (1.77). Hind coxal plates not protruding posteriorly. Legs relatively long. Hind tibial spurs long, slightly curved laterally, closely covered with minute setae; dorsal spurs about 2.0X length of hind tarsal segment I.

Caudal margin of sternite VII ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 A) gently arcuate. Tergite VIII ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 B) moderately sclerotized, trapezoidal, bearing short spines and long setae in apical part, with long and slender apodemes. Sternite VIII ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 C) well sclerotized, V-shaped. Sternite IX ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 D) well sclerotized, Y-shaped, basal part undivided; caudal part about 2.0X length of basal part, bearing 5–6 long and stout setae in mesal part of inner margins, pointed at apices. Tegmen ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 E) long, U-shaped, moderately sclerotized; basal part small; parameres long, covered closely with fine furrows throughout, obtuse at apices, serrate along lateral margin of apical part. Penis ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 F) long, moderately sclerotized, about 0.9X length of tegmen, simply spindle-shaped, widest at about apical 1/4, obtuse at apex.

Female. Sexual dimorphism indistinct; antennae more slender and shorter, reaching about proximal 1/6 of elytra; approximate ratio of each antennal segment (n = 1) as 1.9: 1.3: 1.0: 1.6: 1.8: 1.6: 1.5: 1.5: 1.4: 1.4: 1.9. PW/PL 2.25–2.50 (2.37); EL/EW 1.39–1.45 (1.41); EL/PL 4.47–4.90 (4.72); EW/PW 1.37–1.46 (1.41); TL/EW 1.68–1.77 (1.71).

Caudal margin of sternite VII arcuate. Tergite VIII lightly sclerotized, trapezoidal, with long apodemes; sternite VIII lightly sclerotized, oblong, bearing short setae on apical part. Prehensor ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 G) as shown in figure; basal sclerite bicornute.

Measurements. Male (n = 7): TL 3.15–3.71 (3.48) mm; PW 1.30–1.50 (1.42) mm; PL 0.55–0.63 (0.59)mm; EL 2.60–3.08 (2.89) mm; EW 1.85–2.08 (1.97) mm.

Female (n = 4): TL 2.88–3.45 (3.14) mm; PW 1.20–1.40 (1.30) mm; PL 0.50–0.60 (0.55) mm; EL 2.38–2.85 (2.59) mm; EW 1.70–2.05 (1.84) mm.

Distribution. Mariana Islands (Saipan and Tinian Isls.).

Remarks. This species is closely related to Scirtes tigmanensis Klausnitzer (2006) and differs from it by the following characteristics: elytra evenly brown (caudal part of elytra black in tigmanensis ), and tegmen serrate in lateral part of the parameres (not serrate in tigmanensis ).

During comparison with this species, I found the following mistakes in the description of Scirtes tigmanensis ( Klausnitzer 2006) : (i) description of sternite IX and fig. 30 does not concern sternite IX but the tegmen, (ii) description of tegmen and fig. 33 is not of the tegmen but of sternite IX, and (iii) fig. 35 is reversed. Etymology. The species is named after the type locality.
