Diagnosis. Habitus as in Fig. 1B. Length: 1.37–1.42 mm. Color: Head black with metallic reflections; pronotum brown with greenish metallic reflections; elytra and legs testaceous. Pronotum densely and finely punctured; external areas of anterior and posterior foveae united forming a sinuate line, internal areas of foveae united forming two transverse shallow depressions. Labrum of males with a tooth. Females with the anterior edge of the labrum straight. Distribution. Canada (Alberta, British Colombia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan), Colombia, Mexico, U.S. A (Midwest and western states) ( Perkins, 1980; Hansen, 1998). New record for Venezuela (map: Fig. 3A).
Habitat. Found in nearly identical situations to G. fossatus (LeConte) as described above ( Figs. 4A,C). In addition, one series was collected in artificial lagoons for sewage remediation.
