Carex × viadrina Figert, Allg. Bot. Z. Syst. View in CoL 13: 3 (1907)
[ C. buekii × C. cespitosa ]
This hybrid is described from Poland ( Figert 1907) and reported from Italy ( Koopman 2015). It needs to be searched for in places where both species grow together. The hybrid is much smaller than C. buekii and grows, like C. cespitosa , in clumps. The lower sheaths are dark reddish-brown and fibrous, whereas C. cespitosa has dark reddish-brown lower sheaths, which are not fibrous.
