One of the most widely distributed American species of the genus, ranging from 42º N in the USA to about 32º S in Argentina and Brazil ( Gauld, 1988). In spite of it also is one of the most commonly collected species on the mainland, only 7 specimens have been found in Cuban collections. Bruner et al. (1945) cited the species (as Eremotylus glabratus ) parasitizing Hypercompe albicornis (Grote) ( Lepidoptera : Arctiidae ), and Gauld (1988) list a number of species of Arctiidae and Lymantriidae that are known hosts of this species throughout its geographic range. Very frequently the ichneumonid larva spins its cocoon within the more or less unbroken larval skin of its host. Gauld (1988) assigned this rather aberrant species to the Enicospilus undulatus speciesgroup. It is the only Cuban Enicospilus without sclerites in front wings.
