A widely distributed species, from Florida ( USA) throughout the Caribbean and Central America, south to Venezuela and Ecuador ( Gauld, 1988). It also is one of the most distinctive species on the account of the unique form its alar sclerites ( Fig. 10h ). Many of the specimens have a second faint curved central sclerite in the fenestra, sometimes quite strongly pigmented. It happens in about half of Cuban specimens I have studied. Both central sclerites together form a kind of U­shaped, medioventrally interrupted. No host records are known.
