Habitat. Grasslands, deciduous (beech) forests, moist soils near river and stream banks.
Zoogeographical distribution type. Trans-Aegean, peregrine.
Distribution in Croatia. Spread all over Croatia, in all three regions. Karaman (1969): Dugi otok, Rtina, Sali; Rucner & Rucner (1971): Bijeli Vrh (Vrhovine), Rozga; Zicsi (1968): Krka; Šapkarev (1972, 1979): Solin, Split, Banovo brdo, Batina, Beli Manastir, Novska, Kopačevo, Petlovac, Veli Lošinj, Vinkovci, Zaprešić ; Mršić (1984, 1985, 1987a): Čačinci, Kornati, Čaralije, Prevlaka, Sljeme, Štirovača; Jelić (1985): Sakadaško jezero, Podunavlje; Hackenberger: Turkovići, Kneja, Mikleuš.
