Diagnosis

Forewing length 5.0–7.0 mm. This species is recognized by the semiovoid basal patch on the forewing. It is similar to A. badiana in facies ( Figure 23 View Figures 19–25 ), but can be distinguished by the reduced uncus in the male genitalia ( Figure 46 View Figures 44–48 ) and the ringed sterigma ( Figure 65 View Figures 61–66 ). In the latter, the uncus is developed and bifurcate; the sterigma is semicircular. It is also similar to A. loktini in the male genitalia. The differences between them are discussed under A. loktini .

Distribution

China (Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi), Europe, Japan, Korea, Russia.

Hostplants

Betulaceae : Betula sp.; Ulmaceae : Ulmus sp. ( Bradley 1979).

Diagnosis

Forewing length 6.0–7.0 mm. This species can be separated from other congeners by the forewing with dark brown spots and streaks throughout from the base to the subterminal fascia ( Figure 24 View Figures 19–25 ). It is similar to A. loktini in the male genitalia, but is easily distinguishable by the sacculus with a small apical protrusion, the cucullus narrowed distally with lobe-shaped apex ( Figure 47 View Figures 44–48 ). In A. loktini , the sacculus has a large apical protrusion, the cucullus is slightly expanded distally, and the apex is right-angled. The female genitalia are distinguished by the V-shaped sterigma and two different-sized signa ( Figure 66 View Figures 61–66 ).

Material examined

2 „„, China, Laoyeling , Heilongjiang Province, 4 July 1998, coll. Shanchun Yan, deposited in NEFU .

Distribution

China (Heilongjiang).

Remarks

Forewing length 9.0 mm. This species is superficially similar to A. badiana , but can be distinguished by the forewing with a triangular subapical patch and the basal patch covering nearly half of the wing ( Figure 25 View Figures 19–25 ), the slender uncus, the cucullus expanded apically in the male genitalia ( Figure 48 View Figures 44–48 ).
