Heterotypic synonym:— Eugenia demeusei De Wild. fo. lukolelaensis Wildeman (1908: 325). Type :— DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO. Lukolela, 6 July 1906 (fl.), L. Pynaert 204 (holotype BR! [ BR0000008990433 ]; isotype BR! [ BR0000008990761 ]).

Distribution:—In Congo (Brazzaville) known only from Brazzaville and Likouala departments. The species also occurs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Habitat and ecology:—Riverine forests and forests periodically inundated; elevation unknown.

Notes:— Three specimens are cited in the protologue, but none were chosen as the type. Demeuse 198 is labelled the holotype, but this was not indicated in any relevant publication (e.g. Amshoff 1958 & 1966, Boutique 1968). We hereby designate it as the lectotype because it contains good quality flowering material. Gillet 2654 was erroneously cited in the protologue as 3654.
