Species of Barsine View in CoL are small or medium-sized moths with slender or relatively robust body. Wing coloration varies from milky white to yellow or red. Pattern varies and consists of transverse lines and spots. In the male genitalia, the main diagnostic features are the presence of one or several fields of small, short and robust cornuti in the vesica, and the presence of medial costal extension directed ventrally ( Holloway 2001). The typical Barsine View in CoL ( Barsine View in CoL sensu stricto, species close to the type species B. defecta Walker, 1854 View in CoL ) are predominantly medium-sized moths with robust body. In the male genitalia ( Figs. 1–3 View FIGURES 1 – 4 ), typical Barsine View in CoL have sacculus strongly sclerotized, its basal extension with broad base, long, strongly curved, apically pointed; distal saccular extension long, narrow, well separated from the apical lobe of valva, in the majority of species with small dorsal lobe; vesica broad, with several diverticula of characteristic arrangement and fields of small cornuti and scobination. In the female genitalia ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 4 ), ostium bursae broad; antrum broad, slightly rugose, in some species with medial concavity; ductus bursae strongly sclerotized, broad, flattened dorso-ventrally, with short anterior membranous section; Corpus bursae globular, with strong rugose sclerotization and scobination posteriorly, with one or two large signa; anterior section of corpus bursae membranous, with weak scobination; appendix bursae strongly sclerotized, situated laterodorsally, usually strongly curved.
