Figs. 21–22 View FIGURE 21 View FIGURE 22
Type material. Not examined.
Non-type material examined. 1 male, 1 female: “ México, Oaxaca, Km 164.5 Carr. Oaxaca-Pto. Escondido. 17 – 20/VI/93. Alt. 1570 m, necrotrampa, L. Delgado, col.” ( CEMT) .
Remarks. The following characters are lacking in O. semiopacus , leading us to consider it as an outlier within the O. fuscus species complex: copper colored with metallic sheen, elongate female clypeus, and apex of parameres relatively short and robust. The following set of characters are shared by O. semiopacus and the O. cyanellus species complex, and help to separate them from the O. fuscus species complex: dark blue colored, silky, and matte ( O. cyanellus Bates, 1887 ; O. chiapanecus Zunino & Halffter, 1988 ; and O. salvadorensis Zunino & Halffter, 1988 ); pronotal prominence of the major male obtusely triangular ( O. chiapanecus and O. salvadorensis ); male clypeus obtusely pentagonal ( O. chiapanecus and O. salvadorensis ); clypeal carina of the male developed ( O. salvadorensis ); female clypeus concave and trapezoidal ( O. cyanellus ); superior left lobe of the lamella copulatrix strongly developed ( O. chiapanecus and O. salvadorensis ); internal margin of the inferior right lobe forming a strongly developed and rounded tooth ( O. chiapanecus ); apex of the inferior right lobe obtusely spatulate ( O. chiapanecus ). The apical teeth of the parameres are straight angled and strongly developed, representing a putative autapomorphy of O. semiopacus within the O. chevrolati species group ( Figs. 21–22 View FIGURE 21 View FIGURE 22 ).
