scientific name

Senecio elegans L.
status

Senecio elegans Linnaeus View in CoL , Species Plantarum 2: 869. 1753.

"Habitat in Aethiopia." RCN: 6288.

Lectotype (Kippist in Harvey & Sonder, Fl. Cap. 3: 361. 1865): Herb. Linn. No. 996.31 ( LINN) .

Current name: Senecio elegans L. View in CoL ( Asteraceae ).

Note: Although an unusually early typification, Kippist clearly referred to one of the Linnaean sheets as "the type specimen" and this appears to be a valid choice, pre-dating that of Belcher (in Fl. Australia 50: 617. 1994) who chose a Clifford sheet (BM).
