Distribution. Palaearctic species, widespread in Europe (except for Mediterranean region) and Russia, including the Far East.
Status in CZ. Previously recorded only from Vlastiboř in southern Bohemia ( Máca 1977), based on a single female specimen (4.vii.1974, J. Olejníček det., BMS). As females of this species are difficult to identify, the above listed males represent the first reliable records and hereby confirm its occurrence in CZ .
Ecology. Species of submontane and montane forests, found so far exclusively on spruce in relatively humid, semi-shady sites. It seems to prefer old tree trunks (after or at very late phase of infestation by bark beetles).
