Distribution. Widely distributed in Europe; also reported from northern Portugal ( Pollet et al. 2019) and Bulgaria ( Kechev et al. 2020).
Status in CZ. Previously recorded from both Bohemia and Moravia: Kunice, Vráž, Bílina-Chloumek ( Olejníček & Barták 1997), Valtice ( Olejníček 1982), Lanžhot ( Olejníček 1998), and from the four localities within Podyjí National Park: Zadní Hamry, Pod Šobesem, Terasy, and Liščí skála ( Olejníček et al. 2005). There are seven male specimens in NMPC, identified by J. Olejníček and which correspond with the above mentioned records, but only two of them (Podyjí: Terasy, Zadní Hamry) proved to be correctly identified. Examination of the other males produced the following results: Kunice (2–7.vi.1985, M. Barták lgt.), M. pseudoapicalis Thuneberg, 1955 ; BílinaChloumek (8.v.1994, M. Barták lgt.), M. acanthura ; Lanžhot (Soutok, 19.vi.1994, J. Vaňhara lgt.), M. abstrusa ; Podyjí (Pod Šobesem, 1–24.vii.2002, M. Barták & Š. Kubík lgt.), M. abstrusa ; Podyjí (Liščí skála, 9.ix.–28.x.2004, M. Barták & Š. Kubík lgt.), M. caeruleifacies Naglis & Negrobov, 2014 .
Ecology. Medetera impigra has mainly been found on trunks of deciduous tree species, but is the sole species of the M. apicalis species group that has also been encountered on coniferous trees ( Pollet et al. 2011).
