Distribution. Widespread in Europe.
Status in CZ. Previously recorded from both Bohemia and Moravia: Aš ( Kowarz 1884), Františkovy Lázně ( Vimmer 1913), Lanžhot-Ranšpurk ( Rozkošný & Vaňhara 1995; Olejníček 1998), and Mohelno ( Rozkošný & Vaňhara 1997). There are no specimens in the historical collection of NMPC. The occurrence in Bohemia is confirmed herein after more than 100 years.
Ecology. Medetera micacea is a typical representative of European dolichopodid communities that occur in open, bare to sparsely vegetated habitat types on sandy soils, like coastal dunes and heathlands ( Pollet & Grootaert 1996; Pollet et al. 2011).
