Remarks

New junior synonym of M. ornatus ( Duponchel, 1825) ( Fig. 14A View Fig , see below). 1) Lacordaire (1842) provided a redescription of M. nigropunctatus stating the following: “Cette description du type de l’espèce est faite sur le même exemplaire qui a servi à M. Duponchel pour la sienne”. The examined specimen from MRSN has a label written “Lacordaire” and fits the description made by him and Duponchel. Therefore, this specimen is designated as the lectotype of M. nigropunctatus . 2) The name “ octopunctatus Chevrolat” is a nomen nudum and appears in the Dejean Catalogue (1836) under M. nigropunctatus .
