North Brazil ( Alvarenga 1994).

Remarks

1) The locality “S. Paulo” mentioned on the labels of the lectotypes of M. fulvilabris and M. rastratus ( Figs 6 F’ and 10B’) refers to “ São Paulo de Olivença” (in the state of Amazonas, North Brazil), where Henry Walter Bates collected specimens a few years before Crotch published his revision ( Crotch 1876; Papavero 1973; Alvarenga 1994). 2) We examined the lectotype of M. rastratus in the Crotch collection and, excepted for its resemblance with a teneral ( Fig. 10B), there is no morphological variation between it and the lectotype of M. fulvilabris . It is worth noting that the coloration observed in the lectotype of M. rastratus is typical of tenerals or not fully pigmented adults of Erotylidae .
