Current name: Asclepias rubra L. View in CoL View at ENA ( Asclepiadaceae ).

Note: See Gray (in Proc. Amer. Acad. Arts 12: 90. 1876), who used the expression "founded upon" (which is not acceptable as equivalent to “type”) in connection with Clayton 263 (BM). Woodson (in Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 41: 80. 1954) indicated 310.39 (LINN) as the type but the sheet lacks the Species Plantarum number (i.e. “17”) and was a post-1753 addition to the herbarium, and not original material for the name.
