Mispila (Mispila) papuensis: Breuning, 1963a : nomen nov. pro papuana Breuning, 1961b: 19 non papuana Breuning, 1940 .

Type material examined. Indonesia (West Papua): Holotype: ‘Holo- / type [p, label circular, red framed]; N. Guinea / (Saylee)[?, unreadable] [h]; Sharp Coll. / 1905–313. [p]; S. Breuning det., 194 [p] / Mispila / papuana / mihi Typ [p]; NHMUK014496474 [p]’.

Comments. Mispila papuana Breuning, 1961 is a junior primary homonym, preoccupied by Mispila papuana Breuning, 1940 . Breuning published the replacement name Mispila (s. str.) papuensis Breuning, 1963 , which is the species represented in the NHMUK collection.
