Type :— NEW ZEALAND. Middle [South] Island , Dusky Bay mountains, alt. 3500 ft., 1865, J. Hector 13 in Herbarium Hookerianum (holotype K 882095 [image!]).
Notes:— The protologue ( Hooker 1867) mentioned Hector and Buchanan as collectors, but the holotype from the Herbarium Hookerianum K 882095 says only Hector. However, it is well known that both did several expeditions together and collected in the 1860s, because J. Buchanan was the assistant of the geologist Dr. Hector ( Hooker 1864, preface p. 13).
