44. Celmisia viscosa Hooker (1864: 133) View in CoL .
Type:— NEW ZEALAND. Middle [South] Island, Prov. Canterbury, 1860–1861, Sinclair & Haast 450 in Herbarium Hookerianum (lectotype K 882076 [image!] designated by Allan 1961: 627).
Notes:— Hooker mentioned two syntypes: Summit of Mt Torlesse, alt. 5–6000 ft., Haast (the label mentioned Sinclair and Haast); and Otago, Lake District, subalpine, Hector and Buchanan (originally attributed to Sinclair and Haast, but later corrected by Hooker 1867: 732). The first syntype, selected as a lectotype by Allan (1961), does not mention Mt Torlesse as is indicated in the protologue, but it does say “Prov. Canterbury ”, which is where Mt Torlesse is located.
A specimen at AK (9850!) sent from Kew says: “Possibly a type material”. However, it does not have necessary and sufficient information (collector, locality, collection date) to allow the confirmation of its type status.
