Type locality. Japan (Tokyo).

Type material. Unknown.

Records from Vietnam. Son La (Moc Chau); Nghe An (Quy Chau) ; Quang Binh (Tuyen Hoa; Minh Hoa; Bo Trach; Quang Ninh, Dong Hoi); Thua Thien Hue (Phu Loc) ; Gia Lai (Buon Luoi; Kon Ha Nung) ; Binh Dinh (Do 1994; Nguyen 1994; Huynh 2005a; Nguyen & Tran 2008).

Distribution. China, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan ( Chen 1933; Blakemore 2002, 2007a, 2013).

Remarks. The records of this species from Vietnam (as Pheretima pingi ) are outside its known area, temperate regions in northern China, Korea and Japan, and require confirmation with fresh reference material.
