Distribution. Cosmopolitan species, also known from Thailand, Myanmar, Singapore, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia ( Gates 1939, 1972; Thai & Do 1989; Blakemore 2002; Shen & Yeo 2005).

Vietnamese name. Giun pegu.

Remarks. Gates (1972) and Blakemore (2002) considered saigonensis Omodeo, 1957 a synonym of Metaphire peguana (Rosa, 1890) . However, Thai (1984) suggested that P. saigonensis is a synonym of M. bahli . The taxa were reviewed and M. saigonensis was restored by Blakemore (2016).
